How the AI works

AI that explains your Search Console data. Rules that keep it honest.

Paste Search Console data into a chatbot and the model has to find the problems, rank them and explain them in one go. Sense Console splits the job. Fixed rules find and rank the opportunities. The AI explains them.

Rules decide. AI explains.

The order of your list never depends on what a model happened to say.

The rules find the opportunity

Sense Console compares your last 28 days of Search Console data with the 28 days before and flags searches that are shown without clicks, that newly appeared or that lost all their visibility.

The rules rank it

Each opportunity gets a priority from its impressions, clicks and position. The AI cannot change the order.

The AI explains it

Anthropic's Claude writes why the opportunity matters and the steps to take, using only the evidence for that one opportunity.

Every explanation is checked before you see it.

AI models make predictable mistakes. Sense Console checks each explanation against a set of rules and rejects it if it:

  • promises a result, such as more traffic or a recovery
  • uses a period other than the 28 days the data covers
  • describes impressions as people or visits
  • sends you off your own site, to link building, social media or ads
  • contains a web address

When an explanation is rejected, you still see the evidence and a rule-based next step.

What the AI sees, and what it never sees.

For each explanation, Claude receives a short summary of one opportunity: the search, its type and priority, summarised clicks, impressions, click rate and average position for the two 28-day periods, the page path and your site's domain.

It never receives your raw Search Console data, your name or your email address. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models.

Why not paste Search Console data into ChatGPT?

You can, and for a one-off question it works. As a weekly routine it has gaps:

  • Search Console's export stops at 1,000 rows, so long-tail searches get cut.
  • A chat model can rank the same rows differently each time you ask.
  • It keeps no record of what you changed, so it cannot show whether a fix worked.
  • You repeat the export, the prompt and the checking every time.

Questions

Which AI model does Sense Console use?

Anthropic's Claude.

Can the AI change my website?

No. Sense Console has read-only access to Search Console and no access to your website. You decide whether to make each change.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Anthropic receives only the summary described on this page, and under its commercial terms it does not train its models on data sent through its API.

Can an explanation still be wrong?

It can miss context only you know, such as a page you plan to retire. The checks catch the mistakes we have seen models make, and the evidence always sits next to the explanation so you can judge it.
